Fried green tomatoes ... and lots more besides

Yesterday, to escape the four walls, the three of us plus Kym, our Aussie neighbour, went for a drive to look for somewhere for the kids to have a run around and for us to have a little bit of exercise and adult conversation. Mel had talked about some area along the highway, west of here, where they take the boys to let off steam and I'd marked it on my iPad map ... or so I thought I had. We thought we were heading in the right direction, but after a few more paddocks, cotton fields and pecan farms, we decided we weren't going to find this mystery destination and settled on a peach/pecan farm, cafe, instead.

Where's Wally?

The kids found it hard not to touch everything in the gift shop , and as Daniel is of the age that demands independence and shuns restraints of any kind, it was a little hairy navigating the place, with all its interesting bits and pieces.

Lots of pecans for lots of "pecan pies"!

Daniel considering cooking some Fried Green Tomatoes with the various mixes on offer

"Makes all critters taste great", says the Road Kill Grill tin - tempting!! What's interesting is that the display was half empty ... Yummy!

We settled on a trip to the cafe for some peach cobbler - a soggy version of a crumble, and very sweet, and a play on real (decommissioned) tractors in the kids' playground next door.

Daniel was clearly happier sussing out the mechanical rather than the operational aspects of the tractor!
